Our Process

We specialize in Ice Dyeing, which is a form of tie dye using ice.

We are obsessed with the beautiful colors and unique effects that ice dyeing gives us! We hope you will feel the same way! Check out some behind-the-scenes pics of our ice dyeing process!

All our items are hand-dyed in house. No shortcuts!

We ice-dye each of our items in-house and by hand. We strive for the utmost quality in each item; there are no shortcuts in ice dyeing! Each item takes at least 72 hours from start to finish.

A Thorough Process With The Right Materials

We use lots of colanders and buckets. The colanders we source from local thrift stores and the buckets are donated from local restaurants and grocery stores.

We use only top quality professional dyes so that the colors will never fade on any item. We currently have over 50 color options available which makes for endless combinations!

Once the dye powder is placed, it's time for the ice. Colors will soak in and spread as the ice melts. For larger items, we may add more ice after the initial melt just to make sure the color gets pushed through the whole item!

The most difficult part is waiting an additional 24-48 hours after ice melts to ensure that the colors stay vibrant forever! After that its rinse, wash, and then wear! The colors will never fade or bleed in the laundry!

Orange and Black Spiral Step by Step:

Adding the dye powder. We use professional quality Procion-MX dyes from ProChemical & Dye

When the weather is nice, we can do many projects simultaneously!

Time to add ice! Depending on the project, we may add dye over or under the ice. This one is dye under ice! As it melts, it will drip into the empty bucket below.

After "batching" for 24-48 hours after the ice melts, we rinse out excess dye, wash/dry the shirt, and of course snap a great pic!

Dark Rainbow Spiral Before & After:

We love to experiment with different dye placements. This was our first time trying one like this!

Any ice works but crushed ice helped hold the dye in place as it melted on this one.

It's always a great feeling to unveil work we are proud of!

Incline Dyes:

To achieve the Incline effect, we place the center of the shirt on to a cone and apply dye and ice. As our ice melts, color will begin to spread down the sides of the cone and on to the rest of the shirt.

Notice how gravity worked on this shirt! The colors all began in the center of the spiral, but the incline effect makes it appear as if they are pulling away from the center creating this unique look.

In this photo, you can see the last of the ice melting over this tank top. Most of the color has already spread!

This Incline-dyed tank top was dyed with only one color: Lavender. Notice how the Lavender split into the individual hues of pink and blue as the color spread down the cone. In this case, we see that blue is a "heavier" color as it "sank" to the outer edges of the tank top.
